Overview

OpenCode is an open-source AI-powered coding agent accessible directly from the browser. It provides an intelligent coding assistant experience — similar to terminal-based AI coding tools — delivered as a web-accessible workload within the Juno platform. Each OpenCode workload gets its own isolated environment with persistent storage for project files and configuration.

How It Works

Workload Template — Installs the OpenCode workload schema into Genesis. Once installed, the OpenCode type appears in Genesis on the Workloads page, where it can be authored into a workload template. Users can then launch and provision their own coding agent session on demand within a project through Hubble.

Prerequisites

  • Platform versions: genesis-deployment >= 3.0.0-beta.1, orion-deployment >= 3.0.0-beta.1
  • A Kubernetes storage class available in the cluster
  • API credentials for an LLM provider (configured within the OpenCode application after launch)

Installation

  1. Open Terra and navigate to the Plugin Marketplace
  2. Search for "OpenCode"
  3. Click Install
  4. Click Confirm to deploy (no install-time fields required)

Once installed, the OpenCode schema is available in Genesis. From the Workloads page, author the template — users can then launch and provision OpenCode sessions on demand through Hubble.

No install-time configuration is required for this plugin.

Workload Launch Fields

These fields are configured when authoring the workload template in Genesis and used each time a user provisions an OpenCode session through Hubble:

Custom Environment Variables

Genesis lets you add arbitrary environment variables to the workload at launch time. These are commonly useful for opencode:

Variable Description
ANTHROPIC_API_KEY Anthropic API key, auto-detected by opencode for Claude models.
OPENAI_API_KEY OpenAI (or OpenAI-compatible) API key, auto-detected by opencode.
OPENROUTER_API_KEY OpenRouter API key for access to multiple hosted models.
OPENCODE_MODEL Default model for opencode to use, referenced via {env:OPENCODE_MODEL} in config.

Notes

  • LLM provider API keys are not set via the install-time fields above — configure them either as custom environment variables at workload launch (see table above) or within the OpenCode application after launch
  • The nginx sidecar provides browser-accessible proxying for the OpenCode terminal interface
  • Project files and OpenCode configuration are persisted to the storage volume across workload restarts
